Hiroshima Day Commemoration at FMC – August 6, 2017, 7:00 pm

Join Friends in our tradition of commemorating the dropping of two atomic bombs on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. We will gather in the parlor for a community reading of Thomas Merton’s “Original Child Bomb,” and then proceed to the Charles River to float candles, as is done in Hiroshima and throughout the world.

The Pentagon has earmarked a trillion dollars over the next 30 years to develop three more generations of nuclear weapons, and the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists has set the “doomsday clock” at 2 1/2 minutes before midnight. Please share this meditation and witness for a future uncursed by nuclear weapons and the grief they bring.
